Third, Major Country Relations continued to undergo profound adjustments
1. China-us relations in 2019: Wind and rain
2019 will be a stormy year for China-Us relations, which have been on a downward spiral since the beginning of 2018. In this year, the government trump continued to put pressure on China from the aspects of politics, economy, the government not only in the global scope to refuse with China in peace and security, development assistance and humanitarian aid cooperation, also actively "area" countries, disturbance and destruction "in" the implementation of the project in China.
On the Taiwan Strait, the most important aspect of Sino-US relations, the US is ready to change the status quo across the Taiwan Straits from the legal (Taiwan Assurance Act), military (arms sales) and diplomatic (punishing Taiwan diplomatic Allies for establishing diplomatic ties with Beijing, upgrading the US Council in Taiwan, and allowing Tsai Ing-wen to make multiple stops in the US) levels. For many US policy makers and elites, the only way to revitalize the US is to "push China out" of its sphere of influence, reduce China's influence in the US mainland, and reduce China's actions in developing countries.
The Indo-Pacific strategy of the US is in fact a strategy of picking sides. It will not allow these countries to continue to rely on the US for political and security purposes and label China for trade. They must be clear and firm. Although European countries are still trying to strike a balance, other countries, except Italy, are reluctant to break off economic and trade ties with China, but they are moving closer to the United States on issues such as the Belt and Road Initiative, and away from China.
For Asian countries, choosing a side is a more difficult task. No one can easily or affordably be offended. Singapore directly said Beijing and Washington, you manage your relationship well, and we don't choose sides. Duterte of the Philippines, after weighing all the pros and cons, decided that he could get more money from China, chose Beijing and is under some pressure from the United States. Japan and South Korea not only have to balance China and the United States, but also have their hands full. Countries like Vietnam and Myanmar have taken sides but are still trying to piggyback on China.
Oceania has become one of the main sources of anti-China. African countries have largely chosen China, but the pressure from the United States is increasing. Latin America is trying to attract more Chinese investment and increase exports to China, but because it is the backyard of the United States, it is more restrained.
The year 2019 is destined to go down in history for China-Russia relations.
This is a meeting of historic significance for the 70-year history of China-Russia relations. The two heads of state made an in-depth plan for all-round cooperation between the two countries, spoke highly of the development of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 70 years ago, and agreed to uphold the concept of good-neighborliness, friendship and win-win cooperation to develop China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era so as to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level and bring more benefits to the two peoples and the people of the world.
